SoHi football to host golf tournament fundraiser

The five-team defending medium-school champion Soldotna High School football team is holding a summer fundraising golf tournament June 17 at the Birch Ridge Golf Course in Soldotna.

The inaugural SoHi Football Golf Classic will take place with help from title sponsor River City Dental, and will offer a 7 p.m. barbecue dinner and silent auction. Tournament participants eat free while all others are $10 per plate.

The tournament is a best-ball format in teams of four with an 18-team limit. Team entries are $400 per team, while single player entry is $100.

Mulligans will be on sale for $10 each, or eight for $40. There will be a quarterback throw at the fourth hole for $5, a longest drive competition, a closest to the pin competition, and prizes for first and second, as well as a “red lantern” award.

Check-in is at 1 p.m., and the tournament begins with a shotgun start at 2:30 p.m.

There are various levels of tournament sponsorship available. Gold Level is $1,500, which includes a team entry fee, hole sponsor, full-page ad in the 2017 program and a logo on the banner. Silver level is $1,000, which includes all the above with a half-page ad, and bronze level is $600, which includes all the above with no ad. Hole sponsor is worth $250.
