Friday: Twins finish regular season with pair of blowouts

The American Legion Post 20 Twins finished up their regular season Friday with blowout wins over the Post 29 Bartlett Bears and Post 57 Alaska Wild.

The Twins topped Bartlett 22-1 in four innings and the Wild 20-2 in five innings for five straight wins. Post 20 has won 13 of its last 15 games.

Post 20 stands at 12-4 in the league and 19-9 overall. The Twins are in third place in the league standings and will make the Alaska Legion State Tournament, which begins Saturday, July 27. Bartlett is 0-15 and 1-25, while the Wild are 3-13 and 6-19.

Against Bartlett, Gabe Smith was 2 for 3 with three runs, three RBIs and two doubles. He also pitched the first three innings, giving up a run on three hits while walking none and striking out four.

Jacob Joanis finished with a hitless and scoreless inning, striking out a pair.

Also at the plate, Gabe Joanis was 2 for 2 with a run and an RBI, Matthew Schilling scored three runs, Levi Mickelson scored four runs, Hunter Williams had three runs and three RBIs, Jayden Stuyvesant had two RBIs, Ari Miller had three runs, and Malakai Olson was 2 for 2 with three runs.

Against the Wild, Trenton Ohnemus was 4 for 4 with four runs and four RBIs. Schilling was 3 for 4 with four runs and two RBIs, while Stuyvesant was 2 for 3 with three RBIs.

Also, Mickelson had three runs and two RBIs, Williams scored two runs, Miller had three runs and Olson had two runs.

Schilling gave up a run on five hits in three innings, striking out three.

Williams gave up a run on three hits in two innings, striking out two.
