Thomason, Aldridge win again at cyclocross series

Eric Thomason and Morgan Aldridge stayed on top at the second Chainwreck Cyclocross Series race of the season Thursday at the Slikok Trails just outside of Soldotna.

In this cyclocross series, racers compete on a 1.5- to 2-mile course that includes obstacles, forcing riders to dismount and mount the bike. The leader does as many laps as possible in 30 minutes, and nobody starts another lap after the leader finishes.

Thomason finished four laps in 30 minutes, 2 seconds, to win, while Brian Beeson was the runner-up with four laps in 30:17. Aldridge was the top woman, and fourth overall, with four laps in 32:53. Melissa Smith was the next woman, and 10th overall, with four laps in 35:40.

The Chainwreck Cyclocross Series continues Thursday at the Skyview Middle School trailhead for Tsalteshi Trails. Registration starts at 5:45 p.m., while racing begins at 6:15 p.m.
