Seward’s Kratz notches victory at Colony Invitational

Seward’s Hunter Kratz started his senior season with a victory in the Colony Invitational on Saturday at Colony High School.

Kratz won the five-kilometer boys race by out-kicking Kodiak’s Keith Osowski to the line. Kratz ran 16 minutes, 49 seconds, while Osowski finished at 16:50. Soldotna was led by Josh Shuler taking fifth at 17:41.

Soldotna finished third in the boys team standings with 71 points. Wasilla won with 41 points, while Kodiak was next at 55.

The top Kenai Peninsula finisher on the girls side was Soldotna’s Kellie Arthur in 12th place at 21:41. Grace’s Grace Gannon was the girls winner at 20:09.

The Colony girls won the girls meet with 38 points, while Soldotna was fifth with 110.
