This week, the Seward Tsunami Swim Club was announced as the grand prize winner in the 2016 Swim-a-Thon contest by the USA Swimming Foundation.

The foundation’s Swim-a-Thon fundraising program raises money for both the teams and the foundation. In 2016, more than 550 teams and 50,000 swimmers participated in the Swim-a-Thon. The Seward club earned the most points in its club size between December 2015 and November 2016, making the club one of four gold medal contest finalists. The grand prize winner was then determined with a spin of the wheel. Among other prizes, the Tsunami earn a visit from Olympic gold medalist Jessica Hardy.
