Weekend hoops: Seward boys win Delta tourney to stay perfect

The Seward boys defeated Delta Junction 57-50 to win the Dean Cummings Memorial Tournament on Saturday in Delta Junction.

The Seahawks are now 7-0 overall. Ben Ambrosiani, Bergen Davis and Emerson Cross made the all-tournament team for Seward.

Against Delta, Nick Ambrosiani and Ben Ambrosiani had 16, Talon Lemme had 8, Davis had 6, Kupono Albino had 4, and Mason Elhard and Cross had 2.

For Delta, Skylar Wilson led the way with 16 points.

Friday, the Seahawks moved to the final with a 58-45 victory over North Pole.

For Seward, Davis had 17, Nick Ambrosiani had 12, Lemme had 10, Ben Ambrosiani had 9, Van Shank had 6, Cross had 5 and Senecal had 1.

Marcus Lipari paced the Patriots with 14 points.

Also Saturday, the Seward girls wrapped up third place at the tournament with a 41-39 victory over Glennallen. The Seahawks are now 5-2. Robin Cronin and Ava Jagielski made the all-tournament team.

Against the Panthers, Stella Dow had 14, Jagielski had 12, Cronin had 8, Addison Lemme had 5 and Natalie Sieminski had 2.

Raylie Sutherland led Glennallen with 12.

Friday, the Seward girls dropped a 44-40 decision to North Pole in the semifinals in overtime.

For Seward, Cronin had 18, Jagielski had 16, Sieminski had 4 and Dow had 2.

Alyssa Pearson had 14 for North Pole.

Soldotna boys take third place at East

The Soldotna boys went 1-2 at the round-robin East tournament to take second place. Izaiah Gilbert made the all-tournament team.

Saturday, the Stars finished the tournament with a 76-24 loss to East. SoHi is 4-4 overall.

Gilbert had 12 points, while Zac Buckbee, Cameron Laroque, Jace O’Reagan, Owen Buckbee, Jayden Stuyvesant and Kenai Lepule all had 2. Akeem Sulaiman paced the Thunderbirds with 19 points.

Friday, Soldotna had defeated Eagle River 64-61.

Ninilchik girls 51, Homer JV 27

The visiting Wolverines moved to 3-1 overall with the nonconference victory Friday.

Riley Tucker paced the Wolverines with 33 points, while Addi McCorison had 10, and Kylee Rickard, Klohie Hughes, Rylee Lemons and Lucy Reynolds had 2.

For Homer JV, Cassidy Hardyman had 9, Madalyn Miotke had 6, Amalinda Norman and Lilly High had 5, and Kaya Stokes had 2.
