Brantley III 3rd at NAIA nationals, Ostrander 6th at 15K championships

Galen Brantley III, a 2020 graduate of Soldotna High School, finished third Saturday in the 16-pound shot put at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Brookings, South Dakota.

Brantley III, a junior at Dickinson State in Dickinson, North Dakota, had a toss of 54 feet, 9.5 inches, to give him All-America status in the shot put. The winning mark was 62 feet, 10.75 inches.

Ostrander takes 6th at 15K road championships

Allie Ostrander, a 2015 graduate of Kenai Central, finished sixth at the 15-kilometer Gate River Run on Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida. The Gate River Run doubles as the USA Track and Field 15K Championships.

Ostrander, running in her first race of 2023, finished in 52 minutes, 37 seconds. Emily Sisson, who owns the American records in the half marathon and marathon, won at 48:26.
