Southcentral baseball: Wasilla wins crown, Peninsula squads eliminated

The Wasilla baseball team defeated Colony 4-1 on Friday night at the Soldotna Little League fields to win the Southcentral Conference title.

Earlier in the day, Peninsula squads were eliminated from state contention.

In the first second-place bracket games of the day, SoHi eliminated Homer with a 9-5 win and Palmer eliminated Kenai with a 10-9 win in nine innings.

In the second-place quarterfinals, Kodiak eliminated SoHi with a 15-2 win in five innings, while Palmer eliminated Houston with a 17-6 win.

Saturday, Kodiak and Palmer play at 10 a.m. at the Soldotna Little League fields for the right to advance to the second-place game and play Colony. The second-place game, with a berth to state on the line, starts at 1 p.m.
