2015 Kenai Central graduate Allie Ostrander finished second in the mile Saturday at the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The Soldotna runner was beaten out for the title by teammate Alexis Fuller. Fuller stayed in the back for much of the race but made a big move on the final curve, passing Ostrander and New Mexico’s Ednah Kurgat. Fuller won at 4 minutes, 45.73 seconds, while Ostrander’s runner-up time was 4:46.06, a personal best.

The Boise State women finished third at the meet, tying for their best finish ever. The Broncos were just 17 points off the lead, the closest they have come to a conference title.
