Homer baseball trounces Houston

The Mariners picked up a 14-4 victory over Southcentral Conference opponent Houston in six innings Monday in Homer.

Homer moved to 4-4 in the conference with the win and 5-5 overall.

Wylie Donich and Patrick Rainwater powered the Mariners to the win, both hitting 2 for 3 at the plate, while Brandon Beachy was 2 for 4. Sheldon Hutt went five innings on the mound with four runs on two hits, four strikeouts and six walks, and J.J. Sonnen cleaned up in the sixth inning with a hitless affair that included two strikeouts.

Homer will face Kenai Central Thursday at 7 p.m. in Homer.
