Watts wins at Soldotna Cycle Series 6

The Gauntlet will be held Sunday

Jo Watts won the sixth and final race of the Soldotna Cycle Series on Thursday, Aug. 10.

The final race of the series is the pursuit race. Times are used from the previous five races to try and equalize all competitors by making the better competitors start minutes behind.

Watts won the race at 52 minutes, 27 seconds, with a start delay of 27 minutes. Kylie Smith, who also had a delay of 27 minutes, was second at 56:02, while Gina Smith, also with a delay of 27 minutes, was third at 56:08.

The mountain biking season continues Sunday, Aug. 20, with The Gauntlet at Tsalteshi Trails.

Registration is from 1 to 1:45 p.m., with a mandatory racers meeting at 1:45 p.m. and the race starting at 2 p.m.

Racers navigate the trail system to find a series of checkpoints on the trail, then return to the start area, then go find the series again. Riders can go for three hours, or as long as they want.
