Friday softball: Chugiak stays undefeated at Bash on the Bay

Chugiak leads the Bash on the Bay softball tournament in Homer after the second day with a 4-0 record, while Soldotna is 3-1, Homer is 2-2, Kenai Central is 1-3 and West is 0-4.

In Friday action, Soldotna defeated West 12-2, Chugiak defeated Homer 6-0, Chugiak defeated Soldotna 10-0, Homer defeated West 4-2, Chugiak defeated West 6-1, Soldotna defeated Kenai 16-5, and Homer defeated Kenai 15-7.

In SoHi’s victory over West, Isabelle Cruz gave up two runs on two hits in three innings. Tatum Cooper was 2 for 3 with three runs, Alyssa McDonald had two RBIs, Cruz was 3 for 3 with four RBIs, Bailey Conner had two runs, Kiara Forkner had two runs, and Kacey Cunningham was 2 for 2 with two runs and three RBIs.

In Homer’s loss to Chugiak, Emily Owens had the lone hit for the Mariners.

In Soldotna’s loss to Chugiak, Cooper had the lone hit.

In Homer’s victory over West, Becca Trowbridge went four innings and gave up two runs on one hit. Trowbridge scored two runs, while Emily Owens had two RBIs, and Keagan Niebuhr was 2 for 2.

In Soldotna’s victory over Kenai, Forkner gave up a run in two innings. Cooper was 3 for 3 with two runs and four RBIs, Forkner scored three runs, K Adams scored three runs and Cunningham scored two runs. Fox Coyle pitched a scoreless two-thirds of an inning for Kenai.

In Homer’s victory over Kenai, Ariana Davis had two hits and two runs, Charlotte Fraley had two runs, Trowbridge was 3 for 4 with three runs and three RBIs, Owens had two hits and two runs, Julie Guess had two runs and two RBIs, and Alaiyah Brost was 2 for 2 with two runs and two RBIs.

For Kenai, Caitlyn Crapps had two runs, and Kailey Stynsberg was 3 for 3 with two runs and two RBIs.
