SoHi, Kenai, Homer baseball collect wins

The Soldotna baseball team defeated host Redington 12-8 on Saturday to move to 9-1 in the Southcentral Conference and 11-3 overall.

The Stars took a 12-1 lead after four innings and held off a late charge by the Huskies.

Dylan Davidhizer pitched a scoreless 3 1-3 innings, allowing one hit while walking one and striking out six. Andrew Pieh pitched two innings and gave up five runs — two earned — on six hits while striking out one.

Derrick Jones pitched two innings while giving up two unearned runs on three hits while striking out three.

Gavin Jones and Derrick Jones each had two runs, while Gavin Jones had four RBIs and Davidhizer had two RBIs.

Kenai 7, Kodiak 2

The host Kardinals topped the Bears at the Kenai Little League fields. The Kards are 7-3 in Southcentral Conference play and 8-6 overall.

Gabe Smith went the distance for Kenai, giving up two runs on six hits while striking out five. Charlie Chamberlain was 2 for 3.

Homer 4, Grace Christian 3, 8 inn.

The host Mariners topped the Grizzlies to move to 2-7 in the Southcentral Conference and 3-9 overall.

Homer led 3-0 after four innings, but Grace had things tied up with two runs in the top of the seventh. Homer scored in the bottom of the eighth for the win, with Garrett Briscoe scoring on a passed ball.

Henry Wedvick pitched 4 1-3 scoreless innings for Homer, giving up two hits while walking one and striking out seven. Gabe Dash gave up a run on four hits in two innings, Brock Barth pitched a scoreless inning and Jonathon Gregoire gave up two runs on a hit in two-thirds of an inning.

Mylan Johnson, Gregoire, Brock Barth and Oak Anderson each had two hits for Homer.
