Seward football tops Eielson to finish perfect regular season; Nikiski beats Valdez, will host Eielson for playoff game

The host Seward football team defeated Eielson 66-10 in nine-man football Saturday to finish the regular season 3-0 in the Great Land Conference and 6-0 overall.

The Seahawks earned a spot in the state championship with the victory. Nikiski will host Eielson on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the first round of the playoffs to determine who will play Seward.

Nikiski defeated Valdez 34-16 on Saturday to finish 2-1 in the league and 4-2 overall. Eielson finished 1-2 and 2-4, while Valdez was 0-3 and 0-6.

Seward coach Tyler Mallory said Kupono Albino and Gideon Schrock scored twice, while Brett Gilmore threw a touchdown to Judah Brueckner.

The Seahawks coach added that John Van Buskirk, Noah Price and Hunter Forshee-Kurtz had great games on defense.
