Palmer softball sweeps Soldotna

The Soldotna softball team dropped a Northern Lights Conference doubleheader on the road to Palmer on Friday.

The Stars lost by scores of 13-7 and 13-5 to fall to 2-4 in the league and 5-8 overall.

The 13-7 loss came in seven innings, with Palmer scoring five times in the bottom of the third for a 5-all game. After SoHi scored a run in the fourth, the Moose took control with four runs in the fifth and four runs in the sixth.

Emily Hinz was 4 for 4 with two runs for SoHi, while Makynzi Deborski had two RBIs and London Deborski had two runs.

On the mound, Isabelle Cruz yielded nine runs in 4 1-3 innings, and Miah Mead gave up four runs in 1 2-3 innings.

The 13-5 game went five innings. Palmer jumped out to a 9-0 lead after two innings.

Brook Fischer paced the Stars at the plate by going 3 for 3 with two runs.

Mead allowed all 13 runs in five innings.

Kenai, Houston split

The visiting Kardinals split a Northern Lights Conference doubleheader with the Hawks on Friday, winning the first game 16-4 and losing the second game 15-10. The Kards are now 1-5 in the league and 4-11 overall.
