Friday basketball: SoHi girls beat Kenai; Kards boys lose to Service JV

The Soldotna girls defeated Kenai Central on Friday at the Mountain City Basketball City Invitational, while the Kenai boys lost to Service junior varsity.

The Kenai boys will play Tikigaq on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. for seventh place in the tournament.

The Soldotna girls will play South in the consolation final Saturday at 11 a.m. The Kenai girls will play for seventh place at 8 a.m.

The Soldotna girls defeated Kenai 47-22.

Kaytlin McAnelly had 13 to lead the Stars, while Anaulie Sedivy pitched in 11. Also for SoHi, Morgan Lemm had 8, Hope Hillyer had 5, Alyssa McDonald had 4, and Brooke Walters and Juliet Innes each had 2.

For Kenai, Ellsi Miller had 6, while Emilee Wilson had 5, Avia Miller had 4, Gracee Every, Mycka Phillips and Willow Graham had 2, and Sierra Hershberger had 1.

The Kenai boys dropped a 61-42 decision to Service.

William Wilson led the way for the Kards with 10 points, while Trae Pitsch had 9, Ben Harris had 7, Daniel Steffensen had 6, Miles Metteer had 4, and Carter Felchle, Zane James and Reid Titus had 2.

Weston Gracey paced the Cougars with 18 points, while Rilon Niclai also got into double figures with 12.
