Brown notched a hat trick as Stars topple Hutchison on ice

The Soldotna hockey team defeated Hutchison 6-1 in nonconference action Thursday at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.

Ethan Brown had a hat trick to lead the Stars, who won the shot count 55-12.

Galen Brantley III added a pair of goals for the Stars, while Matthew Daugherty also lit the lamp.

Down 6-0, Randy Simon of Hutchson broke up Kenzie Powell’s shutout attempt with 8 minutes, 38 seconds, remaining in the game.

Zach Baxter had a huge game in net for the Hawks, saving 49, while Powell stopped 11.

The same two teams drop the puck tonight at 6:45 p.m. at the sports complex.
