Waclawski, Bando win Sea to Ski Triathlon

Denver Waclawski and Jennifer Bando won the Sea to Ski Triathlon on Sunday in Homer.

The triathlon starts with a five-kilometer run from Mariner Park on the Homer Spit up to West Homer Elementary School. Then comes a seven-kilometer bike up West Hill Road and across Highland Drive to Roger’s Loop. The event finishes with a five-kilometer ski on the Baycrest Ski Trails.

Waclawski won at 1 hour, 5 minutes, 55 seconds, just four seconds ahead of Josh Mumm. Dynafit Skier was in third place at 1:10:51.

Bando captured victory at 1:17:48, while Annie Ridgely was runner-up at 1:19:42 and Alayne Taylor was third at 1:21:23.

The Coed Team competition went to 2 Buoys and a Gull, made up of Joey Klecka, Elizabeth Earl and Jordan Chilson. The winners finished at 1:12:34, while Just Tri-ing to Finish (Jaclyn Lucas, Kenny Williams and Alina Rykaczewski) was second at 1:27:19.

The Women’s Team title went to Team Eva, made up of Elizabeth Roedl, Sara Barrowcliff and Megan Corazza, in 1:16:20, while Wheelie Awesome (Hanna Young for the run and bike and Joanna Greene for the ski) finished at 1:19:14.

Fierce Mothers (Danielle Meyers, Emily Sloth, Emily Sloth), 1:23:52; 4. Little Lightning Limpets (Elsa Otis, Frida Renner, Eryn Field), 1:47:30.
