Volleyball roundup: Kenai, Kodiak split weekend series

The Kenai Central volleyball team swept host Kodiak 3-0 on Friday in Northern Lights Conference action before falling to the Bears 26-24, 25-15 and 25-22 on Saturday.

Abby Beck had five kills and seven digs for Kenai on Friday, while Bethany Coghill had 12 digs, Patricia Catacutan had eight digs, Cierra King had three kills and Emily Koziczkowski had five kills.

The Kardinals end at 4-6 in the NLC, good for the No. 5 seed in the conference tournament.

Also Friday, Colony defeated Palmer 3-1. Wasilla will be the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament at 9-1, while Soldotna is No. 2 at 6-4. Colony and Palmer are tied with a 5-5 record.

Kodiak is last in the conference at 1-9.

 

Homer splits on road

The Homer volleyball team pulled off a sweep of Redington on Saturday in Southcentral Conference action, but was swept at Houston on Friday.

 

Ninilchik volleyball tops Cook Inlet Academy

The Ninilchik volleyball team topped host Cook Inlet Academy on Thursday. Scores were 24-26, 25-23, 25-21 and 25-18.
