SoHi’s Mellon to wrestle at Minnesota State University Moorhead

Soldotna senior Wayne Mellon signed a National Letter of Intent on Tuesday to wrestle for Minnesota State University Moorhead.

The Dragons compete in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference at the NCAA Division II level. The head coach is Kris Nelson, who will be entering his 14th season in 2022-23. With the Dragons, Nelson has coached one NCAA finalist, six All-Americans, 20 NCAA qualifiers and numerous NSIC and National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Academic selections.

Mellon lettered in football, wrestling and track and field for the Stars. As a senior, he won the Division I state title at 171 pounds.
