Roundup: Soldotna, Nikolaevsk basketball teams sweep

The visiting Soldotna girls basketball team notched a 65-21 victory over Homer on Tuesday in nonconference play.

The Stars had a 30-7 lead after one quarter. Ituau Tuisaula had 20 points to lead the victors, while Brittani Blossom had 14 and and Aliann Schmidt added 12. Marina Carroll led the way for Homer with nine points.

Soldotna boys 55, Homer 33

Jersey Truesdell nailed five 3-pointers en route to 26 points as the visiting Stars notched a nonconference victory Tuesday.

The Stars canned 10 3-pointers overall, with Ray Chumley hitting three treys for 14 points. Clayton Beachy’s nine points led the Mariners.

Nikolaevsk girls 47, Ninilchik 29

The visiting Warriors notched a Peninsula Conference victory over the Wolverines on Tuesday.

Nikolaevsk, which also defeated Ninilchik on Dec. 20, had a 17-6 lead after the first quarter.

Elizabeth Fefelov paced the Warriors with 20 points, while Markiana Yakunin had 12 and Justina Fefelov added 10. For the Wolverines, Jade Robuck led the way with 10 points.

Nikolaevsk boys 62, Ninilchik 61

The visiting Warriors pulled off a big comeback in the fourth quarter to secure a Peninsula Conference victory. Nikolaevsk had also defeated Ninilchik 57-53 on Dec. 20

Tuesday’s game was tied at 16 after one quarter, but the Wolverines led 37-24 at halftime and 49-34 after three quarters. However, Nikolaevsk put together a 28-12 run in the final quarter for the victory.

The Warriors played six and had five score, but four were able to score in double figures. Zachary Trail poured in 24 points, while Lukah Kalugin and Michael Trail had 13 apiece, and Isaak Fefelov added 10 points.

For Ninilchik, Garrett Koch poured in a game-high 27 points, while Jake Clark and Jacob Mumey had 11 points apiece.
