Portland, USC win on first day of Shootout

Portland and the University of Southern California picked up victories Tuesday in the first round of the women’s GCI Great Alaska Shootout at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage.

Portland defeated the University of Alaska Anchorage 66-57 while USC topped Missouri State 89-67.

Today, Portland faces USC for the title at 4:30 p.m., while UAA and Missouri State play for third place at 2 p.m.

The men’s tournament also starts today, with Buffalo taking on UAA at 7 p.m. and Nevada facing Oakland at 9:30 p.m.

Thursday, men’s first-round action continues when Drake faces Iona at 5:30 p.m. and UC Davis takes on Weber State at 8 p.m.
