Kenai girls, SoHi boys swimmers win Kenai Quad

The Kenai Central girls and Soldotna boys won team titles as the swimming season on the Kenai Peninsula got started Saturday with the Kenai Quad at Kenai Central High School.

The Kardinals girls scored 131 points, while Soldotna had 49, and Seward and Unalaska tied for third at 23. The Stars boys scored 106, while Kenai had 74, Seward had 61 and Unalaska had seven.

Sierra Hershberger led the Kardinals girls to victory with individual wins in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles. Soldotna’s Heidi Snyder and Charisma Watkins also had a pair of individual wins. Snyder won the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke, and Watkins won the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly.

Soldotna’s Benn Abel and Seward’s Nickolas Ambrosiani each had a pair of individual wins on the boys side. Abel won the 100 and 200 freestyles, while Ambrosiani won the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.
