The host Colony soccer teams swept Homer on Thursday, dropping the Homer boys to 4-3 overall and the Homer girls to 2-6 overall.
The boys lost 7-2, getting goals from Austin Shafford and Charles Rohr.
“Colony is really good compared to us,” Homer coach Warren Waldorf said. “We’ve got a lot of work to do if we want to play with them. Colony hasn’t beat us by that many goals in several years. That says where we are.”
The girls dropped a 5-0 decision.
“We came out pretty flat in the first half,” Homer coach Mike Tozzo said. “We played a little better in the second half, and held them to one goal in the second half.”
Tozzo said the better play in the second half was led by freshman Eve Brau. Even though she was playing defensive midfielder, Tozzo said Brau pushed up and earned some attacks on the net.
Homer plays at Houston on Friday and Palmer on Saturday.
