Kenai Peninsula wrestlers will chase state berths today at the Kachemak Conference Tournament at Anchorage Christian Schools and Saturday at the Northern Lights Conference Tournament at Soldotna High School.
Homer, Kenai, Nikiski and Seward will compete at the Division II Kachemak event today at ACS. The wrestling starts at 9 a.m.
In the boys tournament, the top three in each weight class earn automatic berths to the Division II state tournament. In the girls tournament, the top two in each weight class earn berths to the girls state tournament.
Redington has won the last two girls and boys tourney titles.
The Northern Lights Conference tournament, featuring Soldotna, will be Saturday. Wrestling begins at 10 a.m., while the finals will start at 5 p.m.
The top five boys in each weight class automatically qualify for the Division I state tournament. The top two girls in each weight class qualify for the girls state tournament.
Last season, the Colony boys kept the NLC title by scoring 351.5 points, while the Stars were second with 351 points. The Colony girls also are the defending NLC champs.
