Area skiers do well in Oosik Race

Several skiers from the central Kenai Peninsula posted top-10 finishes at the Oosik Classic Ski Race in Talkeetna on Sunday.

In the 50-kilometer men’s race, Soldotna High School’s Levi Michael finished seventh with a time of 2 hours, 8 minutes, 24 seconds. The victory went to Michael Fehrenbach in 1:55:38.

In the 25K men’s race, Soldotna’s Jeremy Kupferschmid was eighth in 1:29:28, with Gus Schumacher posting the winning time of 1:19:19.

In the 25K women’s race, Soldotna High School graduate Sadie Fox finished third with a time of 1:35:53. Christina Turman won that race at 1:30:23.
