A Soldotna man was charged with first-degree attempted murder Tuesday, after allegedly attacking a man with a three-foot sword.
Darrell J. Moore, 25, allegedly attacked an adult family member and split his head open with a sword Monday afternoon following an argument over Moore’s mental state, according to an Alaska State Trooper affidavit filed with the court.
The alleged victim, who had a 10-inch gash across his head, as well as cuts on his arm and hand, told troopers that Moore had mental health problems stemming from LSD use several years ago.
During an interview following the incident, Moore claimed that his real name is “Sir Joshua Rockefeller” and that he is a member of the “Grateful Dead cult,” according to the affidavit. He also said he believed his alleged victim was a duplicate, and that the man had actually died in 1990 after being skinned alive, troopers reported.
Moore was charged with first-degree attempted murder, an unclassified felony; first-degree assault, a class A felony; and two counts of third-degree assault, a class C felony.
Moore was arraigned Tuesday and is being held without bail.
