A man arrested with his father earlier this month after the two allegedly fled from Alaska State Troopers was charged with assault last week.

Lance A. Tackett, 20, is accused of attacking and chasing a family member into a closet at a Soldotna home, according to an Alaska State Trooper affidavit filed with the court.

Troopers came to the home on the evening of June 20 after receiving an abandoned 911 call from the address. When they arrived on the scene, troopers heard screaming from inside the house, according to the affidavit. Tackett was reportedly found inside the home with scratches to his neck and chest. An adult family member was found curled up in a fetal position in a downstairs closet, according to the affidavit.

Troopers noted that the alleged victim had a large lump “the size of half a baseball” on the back of the head, according to the affidavit.

At the hospital, troopers noted injuries to the alleged victim’s hands and wrists.

Tackett, who was arrested and taken to Wildwood Pretrial Facility, was charged with two counts of fourth-degree assault, a class A misdemeanor; one count of third-degree criminal mischief, a class C felony; one count of violating the conditions of release, a class B misdemeanor; and one count of interfering with the reporting of a crime involving domestic violence, a class A misdemeanor. He was released on $2,500 bond and is currently on pretrial supervision.

The incident was the second time Tackett was arrested this month. On June 2, Tackett was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and failing to stop at the direction of a police officer after allegedly driving his father away from a drunken confrontation at a Soldotna residence. Tackett’s father, William, had allegedly driven onto the property’s lawn and tried to start a fight with another man, according to a trooper affidavit. The two allegedly refused to stop when troopers tried to pull them over, leading to a pursuit. The pursuit ended when William Tackett jumped out of his still-moving truck and charged troopers, troopers reported. Lance, who left the scene, was arrested at his home later that night.

William Tackett, who was charged with one count of driving under the influence, a class A misdemeanor; two counts of fourth-degree assault, a class A misdemeanor; one count of resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor; and one count of disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor, in the June 2 case, was arrested June 16 in a separate case.

He faces additional charges of driving under the influence, driving without a license and violating the conditions of his release.
