Starting June 6, Aleutian Airways will offer scheduled service between Kenai and Anchorage.
Aleutian will join Kenai Aviation and Grant Airlines in providing service to Anchorage from the Kenai Municipal Airport, but will use a larger aircraft than those used by existing local airlines. Kenai Aviation uses Tecnam Travellers, which seat 11; the Saab 2000 used by Aleutian seats around 50.
Starting in June, the airline will fly two daily round-trip flights. An “initial schedule” included in a press release says they’ll leave Kenai at 7:40 a.m. and 7:05 p.m.; Anchorage at 6:35 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Tickets are already available for purchase, costing $145 to fly in either direction. That’s the same price as a ticket on either a Kenai Aviation or Grant Aviation flight on the same route.
“Our team is excited to welcome the city of Kenai to the Aleutian Airways network, connecting its community and visitors to the world via Anchorage through our partnerships with Alaska and Delta Airlines,” says Wayne Heller, Aleutian president and CEO, in the release. “Our best-in-class fleet, built on a foundation of unwavering commitment to safety and customer service, will provide an unforgettable guest experience for those traveling to and from this popular Alaskan destination.”
Aleutian also provides scheduled service between Anchorage and Homer, King Salmon, Dutch Harbor, Cold Bay and Sand Point.
