The Cook Inlet Academy boys basketball team won the Nenana Invitational Tournament on Saturday by defeating Bristol Bay 70-48.The Eagles moved their overall record to 13-2.
Ian McGarry was the tournament MVP and the free throw champion. Alek McGarry also made the all-tournament team.
In the title game, Ian McGarry had 30 points, Alek McGarry had 29, Brady Baeten had 4, Owen Braband had 3, Lucas Oyoumick had 2 and Brandt Rollman had 1.
In Friday’s semifinal, the boys beat Huslia 82-46.
For CIA, Alek McGarry had 30, Ian McGarry had 27, Brandt Rollman had 15, Baeten had 6, Nehemiah Barnes and Lucas Oyoumick had 2, and Matthew Phillips had 1.
Saturday, the CIA girls won their first game of the season, topping Nulato 45-36 for seventh place at the tourney. The Eagles are now 1-14 overall.
For CIA, Ella Rollman had 30, Kristi Stoll had 6, Maria Smith had 5 and Mackenize Carson had 2.
Friday, CIA lost to Huslia 52-25. For the Eagles, Rollman had 20, Rebekah Dillingham had 3 and Stoll had 2.
Seahawk Classic
The Seward boys won their own tournament with a 67-46 victory over Bethel on Saturday. The Seahawks were 3-0 in the tournament and 12-3 overall. The North Pole girls also won by going 3-0.
Talon Lemme had 13 for Seward, while Ben Ambrosiani and Bergen Davis had 12, Nick Ambrosiani had 11, Emerson Cross had 7, Van Shank had 6, Kupono Albino had 4 and Mason Elhard had 2. Greg Turner had 14 for Bethel.
The Seward girls lost 46-33 on Saturday to Bethel behind 13 points from Allie Alexie. For the Seahawks, Robin Cronin had 10, Mikinley Williams had 8, Addison Lemme had 4, Natalie Sieminski, Stella Dow and Lia Shank had 3, and Grace Fleming had 2. Seward was 1-2 in the tourney and is 9-5 overall.
Friday, Seward beat North Pole 45-36. Ben Ambrosiani had 10, while Davis had 9, Nick Ambrosiani and Cross had 8, Talon Lemme had 5, Shank had 3 and Elhard had 2.
Friday, the Seward girls lost to North Pole 52-33 behind 11 points from Jade Skipps. For the Seahawks, Cronin had 12, Lemme had 11, Dow had 5, William had 4 and Sieminski had 1.
Both the Ben and Nick Ambrosiani made the all-tournament team for Seward along with Davis, while Cronin made it for the girls.
Also Saturday, the North Pole girls defeated Ninilchik 59-11.
Taimane Skipps paced the Patriots with 20. For Ninilchik, Lily Berger had 4, Addi McCorison had 3, and Klohie Hughes and Riley Tucker had 2 apiece.
Also Saturday, the Patriots boys topped Ninilchik 55-41. For the Wolverines, Kade McCorison had 20, while Rowan Mahoney had 17, and Carter Lemons and Max Russell each had 2.
Friday, the Ninilchik girls lost to Bethel 71-24 behind 21 points from Alexie. The Wolverines were 0-3 in the tourney and are 8-7 overall. Tucker had 13, while McCorison had 7 and Hughes had 4.
Also Friday, the Ninilchik boys lost to Bethel 55-49. Turner had 27 for Bethel.
For the Wolverines, now 8-7 overall after going 0-3 in the tournament, McCorison had 15, Mahoney had 12, Russell had 11, Brant Mill had 6, and Lemons and Kannon Hughes had 2.
Tucker and McCorison made the all-tournament team for Ninilchik.
Grace Christian girls 55, Soldotna 19
The host Stars took a nonconference loss to the Grizzlies on Friday. Soldotna is 8-6 overall.
For SoHi, Kaytlin McAnelly had 7, while Anaulie Sedivy had 6, Morgan Lemm had 4 and Hope Hillyer had 2.

The host Stars notched a nonconference victory over the Mariners on Saturday.
For Soldotna, McAnelly had 14, Lemm had 10, Sedivy and Alyssa McDonald had 6, and Hillyer had 2.

Emma Beck suited up for the Kardinals for the first time this season and had 15 points, while Ellsi Miller had 6, and Sierra Hershberger, Emilee Wilson and Grace Kahn had 2. Ella Boerger paced Grace with 16.

For the Bulldogs, Shelby Burman led the way with 7, while Alexa Iyatunguk and Avery Ellis had 5, Abigail White and Mandee Roofe had 4, and Kailey Stynsberg had 2.
For the Homer girls, Lowney had 18, while Shelby had 10, Reutov and Lillie Mae Kuhn had 4, Gracie Miotke and Mally Im had 2, and Niebuhr had 1.
