Volleyball roundup: Kenai sweeps Homer; Wasilla sweeps SoHi

The host Kenai Central volleyball team opened up Southcentral Conference play Friday night by sweeping Homer.

The Kardinals moved to 3-0 overall in nontournament play by topping the Mariners 25-22, 26-24 and 25-22. The Mariners are now 0-1 in the league and 0-1 in nontournament play.

Kim Chanley had 21 digs and a pair of aces for the Kardinals, while Emma Beck had 10 digs and 12 kills. Also for the Kardinals, Grace Beiser and Cali Holmes each had seven kills and Jorgi Phillips had 26 assists and four aces.

For the Mariners, Izzy Dye led the way with nine kills. Nevaeh Diaz and Brooke Shafer each had three kills, while Shafer also had 12 assists. Channing Lowney added three aces for the Mariners.

Wasilla 3, Soldotna 0

The Stars fell to 0-3 in the Northern Lights Conference and 0-4 in nontournament play with a Friday loss to the Warriors. The scores were 25-13, 25-22 and 25-14.

Katelyn Morrison had nine kills for the Stars, while Nicole Dickinson had 19 assists and Clare Henry had 10 digs.
