The American Legion Twins open play at the Matson Tournament at Bartlett High School in Anchorage today with an 11 a.m. game against North Pole.
The Twins finished 4-12 in the league and 7-18 overall this season, while North Pole was 5-11 and 9-14.
The Matson Tournament is for those teams that don’t make the state tournament, but there is still plenty on the line.

The winner gets a spot in the Northwest Class A Regional Tournament, which returns to Anchorage for the first time since 2013. There will be five Alaska teams in the tourney this year. An Alaska team has never won the tournament.
