The visiting Kenai Central baseball team defeated Homer 13-0 in five innings Thursday in Northern Lights Conference action.
The Kardinals improve to 3-3 in the league and 6-3 overall, while the Mariners drop to 2-4 and 7-6.
Kenai had two hits in the game, while Homer had one.
The reason for the uneven score is Kenai walked 12 times to Homer’s two, and the Mariners committed seven errors to Kenai’s two.
Jacob Joanis threw the five-inning shutout for Kenai, giving up a hit to CJ Burns while walking two and striking out nine. Joanis filled up the strike zone, throwing 54 of his 88 pitches for strikes.
