Kodiak teams beat SoHi squads to sweep Homer Invite

Kodiak, Soldotna and Colony swept identical team podium finishes Friday and Saturday at the Homer Invitational swimming and diving meet.

The Kodiak boys squad claimed the team championship with 128 points to runner-up Soldotna’s 52. The Bears claimed eight of 12 event victories to cruise to an easy title.

The lone event win for a peninsula swimmer went to Soldotna’s Kylin Welch, who earned 297.5 points in the boys diving competition to best SoHi teammate Sam Skolnick by a comfortable 77.6 points.

On the girls side, Kodiak took home the team title with 113 points, ahead of Soldotna’s 80. Kodiak swimmers won six of 12 events.

Soldotna’s Sydney Juliussen notched a pair of event victories, taking the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle races.

Two Homer athletes won events in their home pool, led by freshman Madison Story in the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke. Teammate Annalyn Brown won the girls diving competition with 191.6 points.
