Karl Danielson, a 2018 graduate of Kenai Central, wrapped up a spot on Team Alaska at Junior Nationals this weekend at Besh Cups 5 and 6 in Fairbanks.

Danielson, a freshman at the University of Alaska Fairbanks redshirting this season, finished second among all Under-18 and -20 skiers that were not prequalified. Junior Nationals will be from March 9 to 17 at Kincaid Park in Anchorage.

In Saturday’s 1.2-kilometer classic sprint, Danielson finished fourth in the Under 18 and over category. Also in that series of sprints, Soldotna’s Bradley Walters was 29th and Soldotna’s Jeremy Kupferschmid was 43rd.
