Kards win Silver Bracket at Dimond-Service volleyball

Kenai Central won the Silver Bracket on Saturday at the Dimond-Service Volleyball Tournament in Anchorage.

The Kardinals started Saturday pool play by topping Kodiak 25-21 and 25-20, then Kenai defeated Soldotna 25-21 and 25-17. In the final, Kenai topped Palmer 26-24, 21-25 and 15-11.

Soldotna went on to finish third in the bracket. Soldotna had started the day with a 27-25 and 25-23 victory over Eagle River.

Seward finished seventh in the Gold Bracket. The Seahawks lost to North Pole 25-20 and 25-9 before falling to Bartlett 17-25, 25-12 and 15-6.

In the Bronze Bracket, Homer took the consolation bracket, while Nikiski was second in the consolation bracket.

Homer started out losing to Nikiski 27-25 and 25-22, but then defeated Juneau 25-22 and 25-17 and defeated Nikiski 25-19, 23-25 and 15-6. After defeating Homer, Nikiski lost to Grace 25-13 and 25-20 before then falling to Homer.

Seward led the Kenai Peninsula in Friday pool play with a 5-3 record in Pool A. The Seahawks split with Grace Christian 25-20 and 19-25, defeated Lathrop 25-23 and 27-25, beat Eagle River 25-21 and 25-15 and lost to Dimond 25-9 and 25-16.

Kenai was 3-5 in Pool B, while Soldotna was 3-5 in Pool C.

The Kardinals lost to Thunder Mountain 25-22 and 28-26, split with West Valley 25-13 and 24-26, lost to South 25-16 and 25-22, and defeated Chugiak 25-22 and 25-21.

The Stars lost to North Pole 25-13 and 27-25, defeated Homer 25-20 and 25-19, split with East 22-25 and 25-23, and lost to Service 25-21 and 25-15.

Homer was 0-8 in Pool C, while Nikiski was 0-10 in Pool D.

The Mariners lost to Soldotna, lost to Service 25-21 and 25-19, lost to North Pole 26-24 and 25-16 and lost to East 25-17 and 25-19.

The Bulldogs lost to Bartlett 25-14 and 25-9, lost to Juneau 25-23 and 25-19, lost to Palmer 25-18 and 25-10, lost to Kodiak 25-13 and 25-14 and lost to West 25-18 and 25-22.

Sustina Valley sweeps CIA

The Susitna Valley volleyball team swept Cook Inlet Academy on Friday at Cook Inlet Academy. The scores were 25-20, 25-12 and 25-11.
