The Homer girls and Soldotna boys track and field teams led the Kenai Peninsula at the 17-team Anchorage Invite at Dimond High School on Friday and Saturday.
For the girls, Dimond won with 132 points while Chugiak was runner-up with 128. Homer was third with 63, Soldotna was fourth with 62, Seward tied for 11th with 13 and Kenai Central was 13th with eight.
For the boys, Chugiak won with 100, while South was the runner-up with 93.5. Soldotna was fourth with 65, while Seward and Homer tied for 12th with 11.
Gracie Miotke led the Homer girls by winning the 300-meter hurdles in 45.91 seconds and taking second in the 100 hurdles at 15.53 seconds.
Also in the top six for Homer, Dayten Van Ostrand was third in the discus at 93 feet, 5 inches, Reilly Sue Baker was fourth in the long jump at 16—5.5, Claira Booz was fifth in the 1,600 at 5:34.12 and Brightly Thoning was sixth in the high jump at 15—11.25.
The Mariners girls also took third in the 1,600 and 3,200 relays, fourth in the 800 relay and fifth in the 400 relay.
The Homer boys got a fourth in the 300 hurdles from Tait Ostrom at 43.72. The 3,200 relay was fifth for Homer.
The Soldotna boys were led by Tyce Escott, who ran a new personal record of 10.95 seconds to win the 100.
Also, Luke Miller was second in the shot put at 49—6, James Innes was fifth in the 400 at 53.26 and Kenai Lepule was sixth in the shot put at 43—11.5.
Soldotna won the 400 and 1,600 relays and was second in the 800 and 3,200 relays.
The SoHi girls also got a big PR and a victory, this one from Annie Burns in the 800 at 2:20.88.
Also, Sophia Jedlicki was third in the 100 at 12.82, Shiloh Zichko was sixth in the 200 at 26.98, Anaulie Sedivy was sixth in the 300 hurdles at 49.55 and Hope Hillyer was sixth in the shot put at 30—6.
The SoHi girls won the 400 and 1,600 relays, were second in the 3,200 relay and third in the 800 relay.
Seward was led by a third from Luke Elhard in the high jump at 5—8 and a fourth in the 100 from Ronan Bickling at 11.38.
Also, the 3,200 girls relay finished fourth and Indigo Leslie was sixth in the 3,200 at 12:17.68.
Kenai’s top performance came from Sophie Tapley, who used a PR of 16—8.25 to finish second in the long jump.
Nikiski did not compete in Anchorage, but did go to a dual meet with Soldotna on Thursday.
Rex Wittmer had a PR in the shot put of 43—4 in finishing second. Ryder Maguire won the 800 and 1,600 and also was sixth in the 100.
In the long jump for Nikiski, Ethan Ellis was third at 16—3.5, Kaleb Allen was fourth at 15—5.5 and Logan Nicks was fifth at 14—4.
In the triple jump, Ellis was second at 36—11 and Nicks was fifth in 34—9.5.
For the Nikiski girls, McKenzie Flanders was second in the 200 at 32.14 and fourth in the 100 at 14.91.
Winning events with personal records for the Stars boys were Cy Garcia with a 24.74 in the 200, Luke Miller with a 134—8 in the discus and Zack Kemp with a 39—9.5 in the triple jump.
Winning events with personal records for the Stars girls were Naomi Zichko with a 13.79 in the 100, Lucy Uhlir with a 28.06 in the 200, Kathryn DeBardelaben with a 5:33.76 in the 1,600, Kylie Smith with a 12—8 in the long jump and Greyson Henry with a 32—7 in the triple jump.
