Grace runners sweep Homer Invitational

The Grace Christian girls and boys cross-country teams swept the Homer Invitational on Friday at the Lookout Mountain Ski Trails just outside of Homer.

On the boys side, the Grizzlies scored 26 points to top the 53 of Homer and 55 of Palmer. For the girls, Grace won with 27, while Homer had 46 and Palmer had 53.

David Sliwinski led the Grizzlies boys to victory, running 16 minutes, 55 seconds, to slip under 17 minutes on a tough course. Palmer’s Fischer Adams was second at 17:05, while Homer’s Seamus McDonough was third at 17:10. Grace took seven slots in the top 10.

Palmer’s Katey Houser took the girls race, running 19:49 to top the 20:28 of runner-up Kai Waythomas of Grace.

Homer’s Frida Renner took third at 22:04, and was joined in the top 10 by Mariners Eryn Field, 23:20 for ninth, and Elena Badajos, 23:34 for 10th. Seward’s Hailey Ingalls was eighth at 22:58.

SoHi hockey won the End of the Road tournament in Homer and the wrestling team gained 20 individual wins.
