The Peninsula Oilers lost to the Anchorage Bucs 7-6 on Friday in Alaska Baseball League play at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage.

Peninsula had a two-game winning streak snapped to finish a season-opening, 10-game road trip that took place in 10 days at 4-6.

The Oilers are 2.5 games in back of the leaders, while the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks are in last place at 3-6.

Peninsula now gets a chance to get comfortable at home and try to climb in the ABL standings.

The next 14 games are at Kenai’s Coral Seymour Memorial Park, including 10 league games.

The home opener for the Oilers is Tuesday at 6 p.m. against the Bucs.

Friday, the Oilers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth against Anchorage only to have the Bucs score three in the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the sixth to go up 7-2.

Peninsula tried to battle back, cutting it to 7-5 in the seventh.

In the eighth, Josiah Chavez had a two-out single to score Brett Grupe and cut the gap to 7-6.

The Oilers had the bases loaded with two outs, but Michael Elko grounded to second to end the threat.

Peninsula would not threaten in the ninth.

Ryan Brown pitched the next two innings and gave up three unearned runs on two hits.

Connor Kershaw then gave up four runs on six hits in two innings before Connor Throneberry held the Bucs scoreless for two innings on two hits.
