Boersma takes cyclocross race

Ben Boersma won the first race of the Chainwreck Cyclocross Series on Thursday at Tsalteshi Trails.

In the series, the leader does as many 1.5- to 2-mile laps as possible before the clock at the start line hits 30 minutes. After that, all the riders are stopped.

Boersma got in five laps in 35 minutes, 29 seconds, while Nathan Kincaid was second at five laps in 36:55 and Jon Iannaccone was third at five laps in 39:08.

The series continues Thursday at the Slikok Trails, which are just across from the Central Peninsula Landfill. Registration starts at 5:45 p.m., with racing starting about 6:15 p.m.
