Area skiers opened up competition at Junior Nationals in Cable, Wisconsin, Monday with interval classic competition.
Kenai Central’s Addison Gibson had the top performance for the Kenai Peninsula, taking 25th in the Under-16 five-kilometer race with a time of 19 minutes, 58.7 seconds.
In the Under-18/Under-20 5K, SoHi graduate Sadie Fox was 58th in 19:58.8 and SoHi senior Hannah Pothast was 77th in 20:37.9.
In the Under-18/Under-20 10K, Kenai graduate Travis Cooper was 45th in 31:23.6.
