An alleged violent altercation in the Walmart parking lot led to the arrest of two Nikiski men on Tuesday night.
James A. Johnson, Jr., 34, and Brandon M. Borchgrevink, 27, were arrested after a woman called 911 just before 10 p.m. and reported that Borchgrevink was attacking Johnson, according to a Kenai Police Department affidavit filed with the court.
The woman allegedly told police she had invited Johnson to her RV, which was parked at the Walmart in Kenai, and that Borchgrevink “immediately began assaulting” Johnson when they arrived.
She said Borchgrevink punched Johnson in the face several times and threatened to stab him with a sharp object, according to the affidavit.
Johnson told police that Borchgrevink had thrown multiple punches at him, hitting him twice in the face, and used a hard plastic pen to stab at his neck and face, according to the affidavit.
When interviewed by the police, Borchgrevink allegedly admitted to punching Johnson and said that he was “about to really kill him.” He told police officers he wasn’t joking about the threat, and was “down to go to jail,” according to the affidavit.
Police wrote in the affidavit that Borchgrevink was following and yelling at Johnson, who was walking away from him.
Johnson was arrested for violating a protective order, a class C misdemeanor. Borchgrevink was arrested for third-degree assault, a class C felony. Both were scheduled for arraignment at the Kenai Courthouse on Wednesday morning.
