Investigator Kevin Gill and Sergeant Edwin Anderson, Alaska State Troopers based in Soldotna, arrested 29-year-old Jacob Lemaitre in Elkhart, Indiana last week, according to a Feb. 2 press release issued by the State of Alaska Department of Law. Lemaitre was indicted on seven counts of enticement of a minor and three counts of distribution of indecent materials.

The state alleges that Lemaitre communicated with a 15-year-old girl via text messages and Roblox, an online gaming platform, in January 2025. Despite learning of the victim’s age “within moments of engaging in communication,” Lemaitre repeatedly asked the victim for images of her exposed genitals and acts of masturbation. He proceeded to send her images of his exposed genitals and a video of himself masturbating.

Through “multiple investigative means,” Gill identified Lemaitre as the perpetrator and located him in Indiana, but law enforcement in the area “indicated they were not likely to pursue an investigation,” according to the press release. Alaska State Troopers and the Kenai District Attorney’s Office began working to prosecute the matter locally, eventually indicting Lemaitre in December. The release also notes that the indictment and docket were initially sealed to allow time for law enforcement to apprehend Lemaitre and to maximize the preservation of potential additional evidence.

While working with law enforcement in Indiana, Gill seized Lemaitre’s digital devices to search for evidence. Through the investigation, Gill learned one of Lemaitre’s family members had recently reported him for repeatedly sexually abusing his nine-year-old niece.

Lemaitre admitted to the alleged misconduct against his niece and the victim in Alaska during an interview Gill conducted.

“Investigator Gill should be commended for his diligence and persistence in pursuing justice for the identified victims in both Alaska and Indiana, and for his efforts to protect future victims from Lemaitre’s predatory behavior,” Kenai Deputy District Attorney Julie Matucheski said in the press release.

Lemaitre remains in police custody in Indiana while law enforcement works to extradite him to Alaska. The case is being prosecuted by Matucheski with the assistance of Paralegal Julie Craig and Law Office Assistant Patrick Pilatti. The Elkhart County Attorney’s Office in Indiana also intends to file charges against Lemaitre.

The charges in the indictment are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. Lemaitre is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
