State seeks Kenai Peninsula citizen advisory board members

The Department of Natural Resources invites Alaskans to apply for seats in Seward, Kachemak Bay and Kenai.

The Department of Natural Resources is recruiting Alaskans to apply for positions on three citizen advisory boards on the Kenai Peninsula.

DNR’s Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation is inviting folks to apply for seats in Seward, Kachemak Bay and the Kenai River Special Management Area. According to DNR’s website, advisory board members assist park staff with management and development issues. Boards typically consist of anywhere from seven to 15 members, and individuals are appointed for terms up to three years long.

“Citizen Advisory Boards play an important role in assisting Alaska State Parks with management direction and provide the public with an opportunity to influence parks across the region,” Hans Rinke, Superintendent of Kenai Prince William Sound Region, said in a Jan. 14 press release.

Citizen advisory boards typically meet once a month during the spring, fall or winter. Applicants can apply online or contact the Kenai Prince William Sound Regional Headquarters at Morgan’s Landing at 907-262-5581.
