Several thousand affected by Soldotna power outage

Homer Electric Association said the power outage was caused by a faulty cable.

More than 2,500 Homer Electric Association customers on Monday morning were affected by a power outage caused by a “faulty cable.”

The company shared updates on the outage via its Facebook page. An update shared at 9:18 a.m. on Monday said that HEA crews responded to the outage, which was affecting 2,667 members in the Mackey Lake area due to a faulty cable.

Power was restored to most of the affected members by 11:10 a.m., though more than 150 were still without power.

“We expect to have power restored to those members shortly,” the post said.
