Prolonged, steady rainfall is forecast for the central Kenai Peninsula this weekend.
A special weather statement issued by the National Weather Service on Friday warns of a return of the “rainy weather regime,” saying that more than an inch of rain is expected for communities around Cook Inlet, Anchorage and the Matanuska-Susitna Region.
The precipitation is “expected to be greatest” in communities along Cook Inlet, including Nikiski, Kenai and Soldotna, the statement says.
Rain is expected to start Friday night and continue through “at least Sunday morning.” Rain is forecast Saturday by the service with a 100% chance of precipitation in Soldotna, Kenai and Nikiski.
