More to come at Funny River Community Center

On the heels of the most successful ever Funny River Festival this summer comes another event being planned for the Funny River Community Center. According Jill Tyler, festival organizer and volunteer there will be a Gospel Music Festival coming at the Funny River outdoor pavilion, “We have a great stage out there now, so we are planning other events for the whole community. And the next thing coming up on our stage is our first Gospel Festival coming Saturday, August 27th starting at 1:00pm and will be at our Funny River Community Center. I’m inviting all the gospel musicians, singers, choirs and worship teams, adult or kids to come together with one mind, one body and one spirit for an afternoon of great gospel music. It’s going to be another great time out Funny River,” said Tyler. It’ll be a free concert says Tyler, “So everyone is invited to come out and enjoy people’s gift of music and love of the Lord and share their powerful music which will give us a great variety of good old gospel music and contemporary rhythms as well.”

Tyler also reported that this year’s Funny River Festival broke all records for family fun, “The Festival is our main fund raiser for our community center. We do it every year and this year was the greatest yet. We had a great group of people come out to have fun with us. My favorite was the Chicken Launch where kids launched a rubber chicken into the air aiming it to land in one of the hula hoops and if they did they won a prize. We estimated we had well over 300 people this year and Hobo Jim did a great free concert and we had a lot of other great music as well like Riverside Band and Troubadour North, they made it great fun,” said Tyler. As 6-year-old Wyatt prepared to launch his chicken he said, “I’m going to win a prize, this should be an Olympic sport and I’d be the winner getting the chicken in the hoop.” To register for the Funny River Gospel Music Festival contact Jill Tyler at 907-953-9479 or email her at steveandjill.tyler@gmail.com Registrations for groups or musicians need to be made prior to August 25th to secure your place for the concert on the 27th.
