NELSON LAGOON, Alaska — A 21-year-old man in an Alaska Peninsula village died when he was thrown from a vehicle that flipped at a high rate of speed.
Alaska State Troopers say Elijah Ethan Johnson died at Nelson Lagoon.
Trooper took a call on the death late Friday morning.
Investigators say Johnson was riding with another person who was driving fast on the Nelson Lagoon Airport runway.
The driver lost control and the vehicle rolled several times. Johnson’s body was found in a grassy area.
Troopers say neither person wore a seat belt. Alcohol was a factor in the crash.
An autopsy was ordered.
Nelson Lagoon is a village of 44 about 580 miles southwest of Anchorage.
