A Kenai man has been arrested after allegedly shooting another man Tuesday night.
Members of the Kenai Police Department responded to the incident around 9 p.m. in the Aspen Street area of Kenai, according to a release from the department. Five police units responded after the shooting was called in by a neighbor, said Kenai Police Sgt. Paul Cushman.
Police arrested Kenai resident Shawn Rogers, 44, for second-degree assault and he was brought to the Wildwood Pretrial Facility, according to the release.
“The victim of the shooting had non-life threatening injuries to his leg,” officers wrote in the release.
Members of the Kenai Fire Department responded to the scene, but the victim declined further treatment, Cushman said.
“The investigation, as of right now, is still ongoing,” Cushman said, adding that it appears only one shot was fired.
Second-degree assault is a class B felony in Alaska, punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $100,000. Rogers had an arraignment scheduled for Wednesday morning, according to online court records.
