Christmas services scheduled for Saturday, Sunday

Local churches and religious organizations will be hosting special holiday services

Christmas Eve and Christmas are this weekend, falling on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Nearly a dozen local churches and religious organizations will be hosting special holiday services to commemorate the events. For more information about any of the following,check each church’s Facebook page.

Sterling Grace Community Church

The church will have a Christmas morning service on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at a decorated Sterling Senior Center, featuring Sterling residents reading the story of Christmas and traditional hymns.

Christ Lutheran Church

The Christ Lutheran Church will be hosting a Candlelight Lake Walk at the Kenai Wildlife Refuge on Christmas Eve, Saturday, at 3 p.m. Two traditional services will also be held at the church, first at 3 p.m. with carols and preaching, second at 5 p.m., with carols, preaching and communion at 7:30 p.m.

Come Christmas Day, there will be a Christmas morning service — with comfy attire recommended — at 10 a.m.

Kenai New Life Assembly of God

The church will host community services for Christmas Eve and Christmas. Christmas Eve Service starts at 5 p.m. Saturday; Christmas Day service starts at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church

The church will host two Christmas Eve Mass services, first a Family Mass at 5 p.m. Saturday, followed by Christmas Eve Mass at 9 p.m. Come Christmas Day, a mass will be held at 10 a.m.

Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church

Similarly to their Soldotna counterpart, Kenai’s Catholic church will also feature two Christmas Eve Mass services and a Christmas Day Mass. On Saturday, Family Mass will be at 5 p.m., followed by Christmas Eve Mass at 9 p.m. On Sunday, Christmas Mass will be held at 11 a.m.

Kenai New Life Assembly of God

New Life will host Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services. Christmas Eve service starts at 5 p.m. on Saturday; Christmas Day service starts Sunday at 11 a.m.

Peninsula Christian Center

The center will host Christmas Day service on Sunday at 11 a.m.

Star of the North Lutheran Church

The church will host two services on Christmas Eve, as well as a Christmas morning service.

Candlelight Service starts at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, followed by Midnight Divine Service at 11 p.m. On Christmas Day, Divine Service starts at 11 a.m.

North Star United Methodist Church and Kenai United Methodist Church

Christmas Eve Service will be hosted at Kenai United Methodist Church at their location at 6 p.m., then North Star United Methodist Church will host a Christmas Day service at 9:30 a.m.

Kenai United Pentecostal Church

The church will host a Christmas Day service at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Kenai Christian Church

The church will host a candlelight service on Christmas Eve, starting at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Grace Lutheran Church

The church will host Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services. Christmas Eve service starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, while Christmas Day service starts at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
